Tragedy in Hudson River: Family of Five and Pilot Killed in Helicopter Crash

According to The New York Times, two passengers aboard the helicopter that crashed into the Hudson River were pulled from the water alive by divers but sadly died shortly afterward.

The passengers were identified as Agustín Escobar, Mercè Camprubí Montal, and their three children: Agustín (10), Mercè (8), and Víctor (4). It was revealed that young Mercè would have turned 9 years old today.

The pilot of the helicopter also lost his life in the accident.

The couple were both employees of Siemens. Agustín Escobar was the CEO of Siemens Mobility responsible for railway infrastructure, while Mercè Camprubí Montal was the company’s global commercial strategy director.

The family was reportedly taking a sightseeing tour over New York City when the tragic incident occurred.

New York Police stated that the identities of the two survivors who were initially rescued were not disclosed, but confirmed that both died shortly after being pulled from the water.
